HHP - Rating 4/5

Second time I have stayed at TSL.Very handy location, practical boutique hotel and really welcoming, helpful staff.Just all works very well.If I had a thought on what else to add, it would be a workspace, a chair in the bedroom, but there might be in a larger room.No complaints though.Would be very happy to stay at TSL again when in Portsmouth.

This really is a beautiful hotel, amazing rooms right by the sea of course and also a short walk from the mall. The staff were very kind and helpful, the price was more than reasonable and the parking facilities great. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS - Rating 5/5

My husband and I stayed at The Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel for two nights. It was absolutely wonderful. We had a King Suite which was just beautiful...but we also caught a glimpse of room 15...presumably a Superior King Suite. That's where we want to stay next time...there WILL be a next time. From parking in Wickham Street car park (£5 a night with 'pass' from hotel) to checking in, to breakfast, to everything...it was spot on. Each room is clearly unique. Internally, the hotel is very quiet. Apart from the odd squeaky floor board from above (to be expected in a Georgian house), the first night was so quiet we expected to be two of a few guests for breakfast on Saturday...so we were quite shocked when it became apparent at breakfast just how many people were staying... we were right by the lift/stairs but no internal noise. Bit noisy outside overnight BUT we had windows open and it is a city/popular area! Staff were SO lovely and obliging. Special mention of Yasmin who was just FAB. Saturday morning at breakfast, she was run off her feet but so professional, calm and friendly...and always smiling. (More staff needed on busy weekend mornings???!!!!) Breakfast was delicious - freshly cooked to order. Set us up for the day. Great location...30 seconds one way to Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower and 30 seconds the other way for the Historic Dockyard.Highly recommend and intend to return...Thank you to ALL those who made our stay so WONDERFUL.Helen and Tony xx

secure place which is a bonus at this location - Rating 4/5

Staff welcoming, security features - key needed to operate lift and front door locked at night - very welcome in this part of town. Single room is more stylish than functioning with broken blind and shower needing attention (of which the receptionist took note) - however surely housekeeping staff will have been aware of those items? You don't get much for your money at this location - noting the very late check-in available and 24-hour presence, I think the price is in keeping with the competition.Don't stay here if listed building windows and nearness to lots of traffic and people noise is a problem - go for the much more expensive and bland "Express"hotel up the road.

First time in Portsmouth - Rating 4/5

The rooms in the Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel are very comfortable. We had a room on the 3rd floor that looked out onto the pier. The street was quite noisy at times during the night but we enjoyed the busy atmosphere and slept well despite the noise. Rooms were very clean and serviced daily. Breakfast included a small selection of continental and cooked foods. Sometimes the breakfast room seemed disorganised. Tables not set.The only thing that annoyed us was that our booking through Expedia included free parking and it was not free at all. The car was parked in a nearby Carpark we were charged 5 pounds daily. The hotel is well situated to access areas of interest.

Fantastic hotel. Historic dockyard and Gunwharf Queys both with a five minute walk. View over the harbour from our room which had a massive bed and an equally impressive bathroom. Spotlessly clean and adequately equipped. Lovely breakfast with a great full English on offer along with cereal and fruit. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. We would highly recommend this hotel should you be considering staying in Portsmouth, we will certainly be back.

2 night stay - Rating 4/5

The Ship's Leopard hotel is in a fantastic position being a 'stone throw' away from the entrance to the Royal Navy Dockyard and only a few minutes walk to Gunwharf with all it's bar's restaurants, shops and the Spinnaker tower. As these were all things we wanted to visit it was perfect.Parking is very close and once parked the car stayed put.The staff are very friendly, breakfast was good and the room was clean, fresh and well decorated. The only down side is the lack of air conditioning necessitating an open window and for light sleepers the traffic/bus noise on the busy roadway means a very early wake up call around 5am. Our very good summer has probably emphasized this more than it might otherwise do.

Portsmouth Stay - Rating 4/5

My wife and I had just finished a weeks holiday on the Isle of Wight and we wanted to continue the holiday by seeing the sights of Portsmouth. We chose this hotel for two main reasons. Firstly, it is a small hotel with high standards and secondly, its position, being very close to all the major attractions and harbour. We were not disappointed. We were greeted with a welcoming smile even though the weather was atrocious and given complimentary hot drinks to warm us up.The room was large with wonderful views of the port from the spinnaker to the maritime museum. The bed was huge and facilities as described. With the windows open, we could hear the trains and ferries but they disappeared when closed. We stayed for two nights and had no issues at all.Breakfast was simple but ample. Remember that this is a small intimate hotel so quietness and friendliness and that is what we received.Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants comfort and service but not large hotel issues.

Charming hotel in harbour Center - Rating 4/5

The hotel combines the old charm with some modern style elements. For us our room has been a bit to much mirrored. The breakfast has been porly regarding the price category. The service people very helpful and lovely. The location is brilliant if you want to visit old Dockyaeds and new harbour including Spinnaker Tower and Gunwarf Quays. Due to the trainstation and streets it's very noisy over night and not a place to relax. So for 1-2 nights of sightseeing perfect but not for vactions

A fan was provided again very noisy so didn’t use it. The breakfast was very disappointing as only found out on checking in that no cooked breakfast only continental. Lovely hotel but - Rating 5/5

We booked this back in a February but because of the bad snow, we decided to have it in July for our anniversary. Room was amazing couldn’t fault it. We are hearing impaired had tv with no subtitles but nothing could be done. Was gutted we didn’t have a cook breakfast wasn’t keen on having boring continental doing it yourself breakfast when you pay for room and someone else doing your breakfast would have been much more better, didn’t find it appealing. Staff were lovely hands on and very nice. Location was superb near shops, taxi, train station and buses.

Great Stay - Rating 4/5

To all,When we arrived at ship leopard, my partner and I were so happy with the location and distance from the station. From the woman that greeted us as we entered to the house staff who wished us a good morning. The customer service in this hotel was a 5/5.The access and services seemed more than adequate for our short stay there.Breakfast was fantastic and I’m a fussy person. The first time My partner and I went to Portsmouth and we had a fantastic time. The only slight drawback to my stay was we read free toiletries, so forwent packing our toothpaste only to discover that it was not included as a free toiletries when we got to the hotel. That was literally the only draw back.

one night stay - Rating 4/5

On the plus side the staff were very amiable and helpful and the room was very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect. On the minus side the windows were filthy and desperately in need of cleaning. The curtains did not draw properly and I had to use a peg to hold them closed to keep out the light from the constant stream of buses. The hotel is in need of air-conditioning as I am sure you already know. In the bathroom there was no where to put toiletries and no where to plug in my electric toothbrush so that it could charge. No the two pin socket at the side of the mirror does not work because it is too high up.Despite these niggles I have given it 4 stars.

We picked this hotel in Portsmouth off the internet. We thought we would like it, but the hotel exceeded our best hopes. The staff is caring and gives great service. The hotel is ideally located, especially if you want to visit HMS Victory and the naval yard - only a few steps away. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. What else could one want?

Great location - Rating 4/5

Fantastic location, we didn't have a car, got off the train at Portsmouth Habour and hotel was 2 min walk. Also, 2 mins from Portsmouth Historic Docklands. The room was spacious but noisy from traffic until midnight and then at 5 in the morning. Good choice of breakfast but had to ask for everything:cutlery, glasses and to wipe the table. Wouldn't say it was a top boutique hotel but a pleasant one. Would book again only because of location

Excellent stay, lovely staff - Rating 5/5

We needed a nights stay in Southampton all hotels were full, decided to stay at this hotel last minute as we had never visited Portsmouth. So glad we did as had a lovely time, hotel was really convenient to retail outlet and harbour front bars and restaurants.Room was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. Left after a brilliantly cooked breakfast and will definitely return again as son has two years left at Southampton University and Portsmouth was only 30 minutes away in rush hour.

Ship Leopard Portsmouth - Rating 4/5

Hello,Very enjoyable stay in Portsmouth. The hotel was good. The staff excellent, helpful and polite. The room was clean and well presented. HOWEVER as with most hotels that boast that little more..attention to detail gets lost with time and lets them down.I don't think the shower has been serviced since it opened. The overhead shower head was blocked with lime scale and a hot dribble was the most that could be achieved. The reviews and website boast a fabulous breakfast.?? Good on the Saturday with good variety of choices....but Sundays always seem to be a let down. Saturdays choice of pastries seemed to have disappeared with "oh sorry we ran out yesterday"a familiar line, and the Full English was far less than fabulous with no mustard, because they ran out, and plastic sauce sachets on the side is what I would expect from the Little Chef....not a fabulous rated boutique hotel.Lastly, many people today either are intolerant or simply choose not to have caffeine, which in my case rendered the providing of tea and coffee making facilities pointless. I did look for a member of housekeeping to ask but there seemed to be none.As I said...lack of attention to detail lets one down....especially when so highly rated by oneself...oh well.!!!

Weloved everything about the hotel. It is ideally situated for taking advantage of all the sites and benefits of Portsmouth. In fact it seems to be near everything ie the sea, the railway station, the historic shipyard, the bus station, the exceptional restaurants, and also the shopping mall. It ticked all the boxes for us in that regard. The hotel itself was very clean and ultra comfortable. It also has a lift and the view from our bedroom window was lovely. You an also take a ferry from just across the road to the Isle of Wight or even France. The staff were nice and friendly and provided an excellent. We woul highly recommend it and plan to go there again at the first opportunity

Awesome views over the harbor and right next to the historic dockyards makes it a perfect place to stay. With only 2 nights in Portsmouth, the historic dockyards was the main purpose of our visit. I stayed here for 1 night to meet up with ex collegues for my retirement send off. It was a very nice room, well decorated and furnished with a large modern bathroom. It was a single room and fairly small but big enough for an overnight stay for one. Breakfast was good, a choice of cooked or continental. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel - Rating 5/5

I am very happy to leave a review for this hotel as the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself and room are top notch and the breakfast excellent (I particular enjoyed the breakfast bacon sandwich on my last morning). If you want an hotel close to the historic dockyard, the Spinnaker and the Gunwharf shopping and dining centre you won't find anything better.

City Hotel - Rating 5/5

I stayed for two nights (Friday and Saturday). Parking available very close in the multi storyor in my case another open car park as my vechicle is high. The staff were welcoming and friendly. My room was clean and tidy with an excellent shower. The best thing was how close to Gunwharf Quays it is basically just over the road. I hope to come back when I have more time to see the Mary Rose, Victory etc.

Lovely boutique hotel- Rating 5/5

We stayed here for one night. It's really close to the bus station, train station, right on the harbour and 5 mins walk into Gun Wharf Quays for shops and restaurants. Our room was a superior double. Very comfortable bed. Views across the water and very clean. We were able to park in the car park just around the corner for £5 overnight. We would stay here again. Good breakfast too. Would recommend.

Fabulous location - charming Boutique hotel - Rating 5/5

If you are arriving in Portsmouth Harbour by train - this is the hotel for you ! It's just across from the station, but also with lovely views over the harbour and only 2 minutes walk from the Historic Dockyard and the HMS Victory. We stayed in a superior suite which had windows overlooking the harbour, an en-suite shower room and was furnished with stylish chairs and a mirrored chest of drawers. There was plenty of storage space and the room was nicely decorated, light and airy. The original features of the hotel give it character, whilst the bedrooms have been given a bit of a makeover to provide a more modern boutique feel.Breakfast was good - plenty of choice (we chose a full English and a bacon sarnie !) but there were more healthy options too.Overall an excellent place to stay if you are visiting Historic Portsmouth and are going to be out and about. It's not a hotel for those who want spas, pools and 'fine dining' .

If you're looking for a hotel where the staff are friendly, efficient and professional, where the rooms have all you need, including jelly beans, where breakfast is served hot and with a smile, where you step off the hotel steps onto all the attractions of the Old Harbour then look no further. We loved it and will be back.

Sexy Boutique Hotel - Rating 5/5

The Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel doesn't look very imposing from the outside but it was the name that attracted me to it. However our room was fabulous with a massive bed &chaise llongue mirrored furniture and a gorgeous bathroom through arched double doors. The bathroom featured 2 washbasins, a separate bath and large shower. The bathroom was tiled throughout and very clean. The bathroom furniture was modern and there are two marble fireplaces, one in the bedroom, one in the bathroom which added a feeling of luxury. My only disappointment was the hairdryer wasn't very powerful and the cable wasn't long enough to comfortable reach a mirror, no dressing table. But otherwise an amazing room with helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast choice and cooked well. Would definitely recommend this Hotel. Added bonus of being 2 minutes walk from GunWharf Quays.

Once we checked in we found the staff very welcoming and the room was just as it looked like on the website, which was a pleasant surprise.Very clean and roomy. Especially as they didn't have twin rooms but a large king sized bed suited us fine, being friends sharing a large bed. This is the second time we have stayed here and would do so again if we visit the area. Firstly the staff are great, very helpful and friendly. Our room was lovely and overlooking the harbourand surprisingly quiet at night considering it is directly opposite the bus station. The railway station and ferry port are also there and the historic dockyard is yards away, so as far as location is concerned it couldn't be better. The breakfast is also excellent, freshly cooked on request and very tasty. There are loads of shops, restaurants and a cinema less than 5 mins away and the walk along the front to Southsea is very pleasant.

Retired Yank Sailor visits a Royal Navy town - Rating 5/5

I recently completed a 5-day visit to Portsmouth, and during that visit I stayed at the Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel which completely satisfied all of my needs during my stay. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and made me feel very welcome. The rooms were clean, orderly and decorated in an unusual, but very decorativeand tasteful manner which told me that I was not staying in a "run-of-the-mill"establishment. My stay included breakfast which was well prepared and was an excellent way to start our my days activities. All in all, I was completely satisfied with my "holiday,"and I would most definitely stay in this hotel if I ever visit Portsmouth again.I will also recommend Ship Leopard to any of my family and friends who visit the UK.

Great location, superb staff. - Rating 5/5

The location was what originally drew us to The Ship Leopard, it was easy walking distance to everything that we planned on seeing. Our room had a nice view of the water and HMS Warrior. I was initially concerned because that meant we also faced a bus depot and the train station, but even with the window open there was very little noise. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The bath and shower were both very nice and the bed was firm and extremely comfortable. My highest praise is reserved for the staff:friendly helpful and attentive, they make The Ship Leopard the perfect choice for a stay in Portsmouth. We will be visiting Portsmouth again in the future and The Ship Leopard will be our first choice for accommodations. We both would highly recommend without reservation.

Very comfortable and perfectly located - Rating 4/5

We found this hotel ideally situated for the Portsmouth Harbour train station and the historic dockyard - as well as being only a short walk from the Gunwharf Quays and a range of eateries. The staff were all very attentive to our needs and we were very comfortable in our room. The shower is great! We would stay there again if making a return visit.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, the young staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice. We'd definitely stay again!

Lovely historic hotel with contemporary style within. The staff are welcoming and provide efficient service. The breakfast is cooked fresh and there is a good choice of continental pastries and cereals. Location is perfect for exploring the south coast being close to ferries and public transport. When the company we booked through messed up and our room at this hotel was triple booked as a result, Chelsea, a very helpful member of the front of house staff rang round and found us a room at a different hotel still within the area we needed to be. So although we didn't get to stay at the Ship Leopard in the end I can vouch for the helpfulness of the staff I had contact with, which in my experience, bodes well for everything else about a hotel.

A Happy Reunion Weekend - Rating 5/5

Thank you for a very enjoyable stay at the Ship Leopard - we were very comfortable and honoured to be given the use of the lovely room with a view of the harbour and the 'barn' of a bathroom complete with double doors to enter it through!! A really lovely suite. We were well looked after with both service and food quality at excellent levels. The hotel is well placed for the visitor attractions of both the Historic Dockyard and the other waterfront areas so you can park the car in the generously subsidised multi-story adjacent and get around happily on foot.Or just relax and make maximum use of your room and the hotel's facilities - the cafe on the ground floor provides light meals through the day and the cakes are scrumptious - the chaise longue in the room allows relaxed viewing of the harbour traffic and passing people.Book early, though, Room 15 is very popular!!One thought - staff were very pressed on Saturday morning even this far out of season - consider an extra pair of hands, perhaps or some support.

The position of the hotel is perfect for everybody who travels without car and it is just a short distance from the historic dockyard away.If I had a wish I would prefer to get some informations prepared on the room about the hotels history, breakfast and lunch times, recommendations for dinner in the area and about sightseeing things as well as a cityplan. Many thanks to the team of the hotel, our stay was a great pleasure! With best regardsDaniela

Brilliant! - Rating 5/5

My wife and I stayed from 9th September until 12th and were bothe very reluctant to leave! I had asked for a sea facing room when I booked our stay and that is what we got. The room itself was very comfortable (as was the bed!) and was very clean. We saw the housekeepers every day we were there and they were both very friendly and chatty. The staff were also very pleasant to talk to and went out of their way to help with answering any questions we had about the area. All in all we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone, well worth the price paid.

Three night stay review in July 2016 - Rating 5/5

This was our first stay at the Ship Leopard;although the know the area well. First impressions were very good, and our view remained unchanged during our stay. The location, of course, is excellent;and the hotel was well presented with good facilities and well organised. The food and bar service was good and offered value for money. Overall, there was nothing to criticise (except perhaps the automated voice in the lift!). We will certainly use this hotel when visiting the area.

Lovely bit of luxury in a great location - Rating 5/5

With views of the Spinnaker Tower and historic dockyard, the luxury room was a fabulous location to explore the area. The bed was enormous and comfortable, and the bathroom was extremely luxurious. Size wise, the bathroom is bigger than some hotel rooms we've stayed in before, and the room itself was also very generous. Breakfast included was a good bonus and all staff were incredibly polite and courteous. We loved our stay and will definitely recommend to others.

On first sight, looking at the info. Online about this hotel we initially thought it would be too 'glttsy' for our usual hotel stays. However, on arrival, we were delighted to see how close it was to the dockyard and tha Spinnaker tower where my husband Ian was due to go to for a retirement party. The whole ambience of this hotel was warm and inviting with a wonderfull outrageous double wooden ceiling fan in the dining area and a very large glass clad model of a Jaguar cat above reception. There was a lift to aid our accent to our room on the first floor, everything was clean and working with a great shower ( unusual these days) and clean modern decor. I wouldn't hesite to stay there again on our next visit to Portsmouth.

Fabulous stay. Loved being back in Pompey and what better place to stay at. Great staff and very efficient. The room was cozy, overlooking the harbour and it was great waking up in such a comfy bed.Would certainly recommend my friends and family.

Simply elegant - Rating 5/5

A welcoming facade with friendly and accommodating staff gave a professional reception. An elegant reception area / bar / bistro with easy access to a sufficiently roomy lift. The rooms were well appointed, and of a functional size with comfortable furnishings (if a bit lushfor my taste). The bath room was spacy with modern fixtures. The Full english breakfast was very tasty and I was well rested, watered and fed after my nights stay.Parking is easily available in the immediate neighbourhood, although it is separate from the hotel.

Best Hotel in Portsmouth!- Rating 5/5

I've stayed in a large number of hotels across the globe and this is my favourite. Yes, the best room was more than what you would normally spend, however it was was 100% worth it. The gent on reception at the time was a absolute pleasure, he went well out of his way to assist in a few special request, whatever he's being paid, it's not enough!

We stayed in Room 22 which was well decorated and nicely set out (as with other reviews it does get very hot but a fan is provided). The hotel itself is well presented and all the staff werefriendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from the shopping centre with it wealth of Bars, restaurants and shops. All in allgreat stay and will be coming back (maybe try Room 15 which looks fabulous). Thanks to you all for a memorable stay. Nigel &Karen Ward.

Gorgeous rooms - Rating 5/5

We had room 24 for 2 nights. Extremely high quality of furnishing, especially carpet and comfy bed. Brilliant view too. Expect a bit of night time noise in these front facing rooms as in all similarly positioned hotels. Parking in wickham road carpark works well. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Only slight negative is that allowing people to reserve tables for breakfast causes a bit of a backlog. Thanks.

A delightful stay - Rating 4/5

We happened to come across this hotel whilst looking online. We were really looking for somewhere near to Gunwharf Quays that we could rest our heads. The location was excellent for this and the view out on to HMS Victory and the harbour was a bonus. The room inside the hotel was very good with the breakfast a real bonus. We wold definately come back and stay again. The only thing to improve upon was the fact that having paid to park the car in a nearby car park we were presented with a discount ticket for a different car park. This was a shame as there was no obvious detail about this on the booking confirmation and would have saved a little bit of money. All in all a very good place to stay though

Everyone involved in the running of The Ship Leopard were welcoming and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The hotel is very well situated for the historic dockyard and also theGun Wharf retail outlet shops with both no more than 5 mins walk away. Our room was to the front of the property with a view of HMS Warrior from the windows.Even though the room was on the front, once in the large comfortable bed a good nights sleep was had. We stayed for one night in the best room (15)with a view of HMS Warrior. The room was very sumptuous with a stunning bathroom and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too! My only suggestion would be to provide robes in that room in particular as it would be in keeping with the standard. A magnifying mirror and a pot with cotton wool and cotton buds would be a nice extra touch. feet up in portsmouth - Rating 5/5

What a find. Located just across from the dockyard and 5 min walk from the gunwarf shopping centre.First the hotel, when I was looking for a hotel, we wanted something different than the normal hotel stay. We arrived early but the receptionist directed is to the car park, which was discounted.Next the room, 1st floor overlooking the sea, but also the bus interchange. My first thought this could be a bit noisey, however this was not the case. As the room was higher than the buses, it was quite, even the window open. The room itself was extremely comfortable with what you would expect to find in a room of this quality. The bathroom was very clean and had a bidet, which some 5 star hotels do not have. No bath, but the shower was a welcome especially after a day visiting the sites. The room was clean and presented to a high standard. Nice touch was the coffee machine and the mirrored furniture was in keeping with the rest of the hotelThe reception is located in the bar, and theis clean and decorated with number of objects which were highly amusing. The hotel also had lift which was acceptiated especially when arriving and leaving.Breakfast was good, with a wide range of options even for the fussy eater. The staff were present, friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much of a problemWould we come back again, most differently, a small gem of a hotel that should not be overlooked.

Perfect Easter Weekend in the Perfect Place! - Rating 5/5

My partner and I were travelling to Portsmouth for his birthday (and Easter) as the area is special to both of us – he was born there and it's where I went to university. Having read some of the reviews for The Ship Leopard I booked for us to spend the night in Room 15, and I'm so glad I did!The hotel is without doubt the best place to stay in Portsmouth. From the excellent location positioned opposite Gunwharf Quays packed with its bars, restaurants and shops, to the attentive and friendly staff, and let's not forget the well-equipped stunning rooms which rival that of any boutique hotel I've visited previously. Our room was enormous with a comfortable super king size bed, flatscreen on the wall, large sash windows with great views, and beautiful decor. The bathroom approached through arched doors was the real highlight with a large feature freestanding bath, dual sinks and an incredible walk-in power shower. Breakfast in the morning was excellent with plenty of choice and the discounted parking is really handy too.Our stay was such a joy we immediately booked to stay an extra night! We both thank the staff for such excellent service and will definitely be booking to stay here on our next visit. Highly recommended!

My visit to Portsmouth - Rating 5/5

I needed a hotel near the historic dockyard as I only had two days sightseeing to cram in and couldn't have picked a better place to stay, literally the location meant I was only two minutes away and only across the road from the station! My room (34) was better than the pictures on the website, tasteful decor, comfortable bed, crisp white linen and white fresh towels, full length mirror, plenty of plug points and a high level of cleanliness. The staff were helpful, friendly, approachable and attentive.I recommend the full English breakfast and the eggs Benedict.I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and plan to in a few months time perhaps for longer as I ran out of time to do the harbour tour and see the submarine in Gosport. Comfort and convenience is reflected in the cost however for my much needed break I consider it money well spent...and will certainly be repeating my stay!

Clean Room & Fantastic View - Rating 5/5

Booked this hotel purely on its Trip Advisor reviews and so glad we did as it became the venue for our engagement. Would like to take the opportunity to thank John the Night Manager once again for his wit and charm which kept us entertained until the small hours. The Ship Leopard is ideally located if you want to be near Portsmouth Historical Dockyard, Gunwarf Keys shops and bars. We booked room 34 which has fantastic views of HMS Warrior and the Spinnaker Tower. The room was modern and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable king bed and the shower-room was clean and functional.A wonderful selection of breakfast is provided, from continental choice to a full English breakfast. The staff were polite and could not be faulted.Parking is in a multi storey car park just behind hotel which is secure overnight and charges £5 for 24 hours (with a coupon you collect from hotel reception). We very much recommend a stay here, so much better than a chain hotel! A really wonderful hotel in a fantastic location! We will definitely return!Stayed For one night on 16th March 2015

brilliant hotel. Other than the dining area- Rating 5/5

The rooms were spotless, had a beautiful view of the hard and the staff were lovely. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Me and my boyfriend had a lovely stay. However I feel the food prices were a bit steep and it was a bit awkward in the dining area. Everyone's really close to each other and we didn't feel comfortable talking because it was so quiet. Other than that it's a brilliant hotel. I would defiantly stay there again.

Didn't know what to expect, but did look at websites and read comments. Very clean. Pleasant staff. Parking at the rear of the hotel in secure multi story, but is locked between 8pm &8 am! Only cost £5 for 24hrs. Remember to ask receptionist for parking pass when you leave the hotel. Room 12 was on the 1st floor facing the Gosport Ferry Terminal. Bit noisy but not intrusive. I had the small full English breakfast and it was very good. All in all, a nice experience and would stay again. Price maybe a bit high though for some.

Great place to stay - Rating 4/5

We really thought this place was extremely nice and we stayed in 11 different places on our 3 week trip to the UK, so do have some comparison points. First let me say the staff here is great! Everyone was helpful and pleasant, especially Neil (I hope I have his name right). The place is decorated beautifully. This is reflected in the lobby/cafe and in the rooms. It goes without saying that it was neat and clean. I wouldn't give a good review to any hotel that was not. The location was was excellent-right by the maritime sights we wanted to see with the Gunwharf Quays shopping area also near with plenty of restaurants to chose from. Our room was very nice with enough room to make us feel comfortable when we needed a little relaxing time during our travels. (We had other rooms that you just couldn't feel comfortable in because they were too small.)I do have one minor complaint. The bathroom in our room (#11) needed more shelfs! There was no place to put your shampoo and soap in the shower and no place to put toothpaste, cosmetics, brush etc. near the sink. That small addition would improve the room so much. All in all we liked this place very much and would stay again. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the shelving problem.Cyd Savage

Great hotel - Rating 4/5

We were very impressed with the view of HMS Warrior from our first floor room.Unfortunately the location also meant we were kept awake most of the night by noisy and rowdy groups who frequent The Hard on a Saturday night. The window only opened a few inches (for security, I suppose) and I would have closed it if there had been a fan in the room. The room was exceedingly clean, but a previous guest had left a dirty shirt in the wardrobe.I would also have liked to have some hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang a robe or towel. And either a longer cord on the hair dryer, or an outlet closer to one of the mirrors in the room. The pod coffee machine was a welcome extra, but the only choice was cappuccino that tasted like it had artificial sweetener in the milk pod.Breakfast was lovely, and we could chose anything from the menu as it was included in our room rate.Overall, this was a great, new hotel and we would probably stay again, but in a different room.

Response

Dear Mrs HawkinsThank you for your kind comments regarding your stay at our hotel. I am sorry that you were disturbed by some rowdy passers by, but due to our close proximity to the local attractions and thepubs and eateries onThe Hard and GunwharfQuays, the area does attract a large footfall in the evenings.I have reprimanded our cleaners for leaving another customers laundry in the room and sincerely apologise for it. i have also taken on board your comments regarding robe /towel hooks and these have now been fitted to all of the rooms. I willalso ask our electricians if they are able to fit longer cords to the hairdryer. We do have other choices available for the coffee machine, which we will make sure are available to you if you shouldchoose to stay with us again but have found that most customers prefer the cappuccino. Unfortunately the milk pods are the ones that are supplied to fit the machine. However if you request a coffee from our cafe we will bring it to your room. Rooms 21 and 31 are very nice rooms at the rear of the building and would be quieter rooms on a weekend but do not have sea views. If i can be of any further assistance to you then please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind regards, Christopher Briar. ( Director )
