We stayed here recently , I picked the hotel because of its position, no children and near to all the things we had planned to see…we looked out of our bedroom window to see the Spinnaker opposite and HMS Warrior to the right, fantastic views ! the weather was not brilliant but the hotel was very cosy with lovely rooms, great breakfasts, and great staff.Jeremy who was on at night always looked after us with nightcaps when we returned from dinner and the manager upgraded both our rooms on arrival which was a very nice gesture.Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope that we will stay here again in the future.

Ship Leopard is perfectly situated for visits to the historic dockyard - well worth visiting (and more than once).The hotel is directly opposite the main stations for both bus and rail.We parked in the free cat park and either walked or used public transport for our 3 day stay.There is so much to see in the old area of Portsmouth - this was our second visit in a year and I am sure we will return.The Ship Leopard is our hotel of choice with friendly staff and an excellent breakfast to set you up for the day.Thank you everyone!

Now I have found the Ship Leopard I actually look forward to staying in Portsmouth.It is very well run by people of great experience in the hotel business.Immaculately clean, a substantial breakfast included in the price of a room with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Modern showers and proper soap as well.The Ship Leopard is perfectly situated for visiting the Old Naval Dockyard, which has the Mary Rose-one of England’s most spectacular museum attractions. Of global importance in fact. It is within yards of the hotel. Also there is Gun Wharf Quay within a five minute walk. This has dozens of well known shops-Ralph Lauren, Crew, Body Shop, Clarins, Lindt, Penhaligons Sebago, Timberland etc etc.Top products at generally discounted, outlet prices. Not so large but an easier experience than Bicester-personal point of view.The hotel is not large so one cannot expect large hotel facilities but there is probably always enough parking for every room in their private, adequately secure, car park.It is a boutique hotel with accommodation for adults only. Also pretty close, eight minutes drive, to the ferry and cruise terminal. Easy drive when in the early morning, especially in the rain and dark, driving in Portsmouth is daunting.Overall, guests get a very good stay and I would not think of staying anywhere else in Portsmouth or miles around.

The title says it all. There was sufficient parking when we arrived. In fact when we arrived early, the room was already ready and they allowed us in our room right away. Close to Gunwharf Quays, the train station and a shirt drive to the international port.

We stayed for one night, we received a warm welcome, and nothing was too much trouble for the helpful, friendly staff. Our room was amazing, very luxurious, large and with great views. What a very welcome change to ave breakfast included in the room rate. So handy for everything too, Historic Docks, Gunwharf Quays and the ferries and trains. Highly recommend, and would stay there again.

The hotel is so convenient! Two minutes from the station and the Historic Dockyard and five minutes from Gunwharf Quays, overlooking HMS Warrior. The water taxi, ferries and cruise shops glide past the window. Tasty breakfast, gluten-free catered for, friendly staff.

my stay at the ships leopard hotel was lovely. I had come off a cruise ship feeling a bit unwell so I checked in early, and had a quiet afternoon with tea and biscuits in my room. The room was very comfortable with a great view overlooking the harbor. Breakfast was included, and the coffee was good and strong! I felt very safe, as the front desk was monitored, and the staff was very helpful. The bed was comfortable, and while the pillows were not very fluffy, there was plenty of them.It’s literally a hundred yards from the historic dockyard where I spent most of the next day. Exploring the Mary Rose and the HMS victory, as well as the other historic naval exhibits. I have to say, after lugging my bags up, steep stairs throughout the UK, it was very nice that they had a lift! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends, especially for solo travelers!

the hotel is in a great location, it's only a few yards from the harbour, train and bus stations, Gun Wharf shopping center with all it's designer shops, bars, restaurants cinema etc and Portsmouth historic dockyard with all it's attractions. Check in was straight forward and John was especially helpful with local info [thanks] he had to unlock the secure car park when I arrived back very late, I thought it might be an issue but there was none [thanks again]. The chap [sorry I didn't get your name] working nights on reception also warrants a mention for his friendliness again after I returned very late and then again at breakfast. All the staff that I came in contact with couldn't have been more helpful. My room exceeded my expectations and was spotlessly clean and very confortable. The good full English breakfast set me up for the whole day. Thanks again for an enjoyable stay, I'll be back [probably next season for the football again].

I stayed one night, the second time this year.The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and obliging.My only criticism is that the rooms are very hot even with no central heating on.It’s an old building so air conditioning isn’t an option I guess.They do provide a fan but if they tend to be rather noisy.

Booked this lovely hotel for the night before our cruise, couldn't be any closer to the train station, Gunswharf shopping centre and of course the historic naval attractions. We were upgraded to their best suite and never have I washed in such a HUGE bathroom! Spacious and clean sea view front for our bedroom. Lovely breakfast. A fantastic start to our two week holiday. Beautiful hotel on the water in the center of the busy waterfront. Close to all museums, pubs and restaurants. The very nice restaurant with an excellent breakfast open only to the hotel guests is a real gem.

The first thing I noticed as I arrived was the incredibly friendly staff who helped me with my heavy luggage both when I arrived and when I left the following morning. The room was superb and luxurious and the bed was extremely comfortable. This was my second visit and I will most certainly book again and highly recommend.

Check in was seamless from a very polite and helpful team member. Car parking was sufficient given the hotel was full of visitors. Out 3rd floor room was small but beautifully decorated using high class materials and fittings which showed that they were professionally fitted. The bed was firm but a reasonable nights rest was had. Breakfast covers all eventualities of cooked English, continental or fruit and cereal. The ideal location is just a short walk to the huge shopping complex which offers a variety of establishments to eat or in the opposite direction but even closer is the Historic Docks providing hours of entertainment.

The breakfast choice is good, well cooked and the portions are generous. The location is just outside the train station and steps from the historic harbour. The staff were very nice and helpful. The property was clean. On the downside, the building should be considered historic so some consideration should be given but it does show it’s age in some areas.

Stayed for 2 nights, had room 12 with marina view so fancy and nice ,lovely red hot shower .Breakfast day 1 I had continental,it was yummy.This morning I had a cooked breakfast with the hubby, I'm not a cooked brekki person so said he could have what I don't eat ,no chance ,Sausage, crispy bacon,perfect fried egg,fried bread ,beans and toms, extra toast I ate the lot.The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff are lovely ,made us feel right at home,would definitely return.

We stayed at The Ship Leopard for two nights. Our room (Room 33) was very small, no wardrobe and no shelf in bathroom so nowhere to put toiletries. However, it was clean and the towels were very soft. We enjoyed the wonderful harbour view from our third floor window.The staff who looked after us (check-in and breakfast service) were charming - two mature men.The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Historic Dockyard and the Spinnaker Tower - both not to be missed. There was ample free car parking to the rear of the hotel. Overall, a most enjoyable stay.

We have had the pleasure of staying at The Ship Leopard over a number of years, we always get a warm welcome, thanks you!With regards to the Hotel it is in an excelelnt location close to Gunwhalf Keys and The Histroiric Dock Yards. Its not that far (3/4 m) to the City Centre/Old Town and other attractions. Its easy to get to and has parking either on site or there is a car park etremely close to the premises.Over the years we have stayed in many of the rooms, all of which have been very good. Clean, with good facilities and confortable. Breakfast is excellent, the service is very quick and friendly.In summary a truely great hotel, highly recommended and we will certainly return.

Great location opposite railway station and literally minutes walk from Gunwharf Quays and Historic Dockyard.We had a harbour view room with shower room. Not a huge room, but perfectly adequate. Tea and coffee in room with a couple of small packets of biscuits which is a nice touchLarge shower tray, with daisy overhead shower as well as traditional shower head. There’s also a bidet in the shower room.Bed was very comfortable. Room furniture was a little shabby.Breakfast was good - a limited choice, but hot food cooked to order and well cooked too.Good service by all staff we dealt with. Thank you

The Hotel staff were very welcoming from the moment we arrived to the time we left.The room was extremely clean.If I was being extremely picky…….we had a harbour view king room on the third floor.Room was very nice , however the views were a little distorted due to the windows. The glass had blown andcondensation was trapped between the glass which impacted the views over the harbour.The staff were very friendly and the location was perfect for our stay.

The Ship Leopard is a small hotel located right on The Hard, and it is ideally situated for the major attractions Portsmouth has to offer. It is not one of the cheapest hotels in Portsmouth considering it has no restaurant or bar, but the rooms are all clean, comfortable and well equipped. It can be a little noisy if you want to have your windows open, with lots of buses, trains and late night revellers. Nevertheless, our group of nine adults all expressed their satisfaction with the hotel, and with the excellent staff they employ. A further bonus is that the hotel has a car park at the rear, meaning that you can park up and walk to nearby Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quays.

Excellent location, very close to Portsmouth Harbour train station and Gosport ferry. Small supermarket close by. Lots of restaurant options (including the extremely pricy Gunwharf Quay). Room was clean, linens in good condition. Mattress and pillows were OK. There was some street noise due to location, but it was nice to be able to open the windows. Didn’t eat breakfast so can’t comment on that.I would expect a “luxury” or “boutique” hotel to have furniture without missing paint chips or worn spots; light fixtures that weren’t missing pieces; clean outside windows (perhaps impossible so close to the sea).You should know:The “king” bed is a UK king, 60” wide, which is the width of a North Americanfull or double bed.

We only stayed the one night although we are staying again later in the month.The room I had was a nice large room and the furniture was really nice. It was a little tired with signs of a little mold in the shower.My colleagues room was beautiful and she loved it.The staff were so pleasant and couldn't do enough for us and the breakfast was really lovely.Couldn't ask for a better location for the dockyard, Southsea and Gunwharf QuaysThe only thing stopping this from being a 5 is the couple of issues with "tiredness" of room.Thank you and look forward to seeing you again in 2 weeks.

Was here for two nights. Room was very clean and gave us all we needed. A couple of restaurants and pubs within a two minute walk. Trains and buses right accross the street so no need for a car. Uber was readily available. Breakfast was included and very acceptable.

Stayed here for one night as going to a concert at Guildhall. The hotel was very clean& comfortable. We had a double room at front of hotel with a good sized bathroom and a large shower. We were able to park our car free behind the hotel in a secure car park that was locked at night. It was very quiet at night & we were close enough to walk to our concert. Ship Leopard is very close to the historic dockyard and within walking distance of other significant sightseeing attractions.We were on a mini tour so arrived by car and could park at the hotel for free.Portsmouth Harbour train station is opposite so next time we will let the train take the strain.Our room was at the front of the hotel with lovely harbour views and there was no traffic noise.The breakfast had lots of choice and was plentiful.Thank you Ship Leopard!

The manager, Dave, was very helpful by sorting out a direct booking instead of the more expensive booking.com. The hotel is in an excellent location if you want to enjoy a visit to the dockyard and shopping centre. Although close to ferries, buses and trains this should be seen as an advantage as there was no noise pollution. Our room was clean and well serviced over our two night stay. A tv in the bedroom and another in our sitting area was a bonus. Some of the furniture and decor was a bit tired and needed a touch up but the overall experience was very good. A freshly cooked full English breakfast and attentive service with a smile was first class. So summary - a few rough edges but on the whole great value for money and excellent service.

Our room was fabulous with a bathroom you could play football in. The level of fitting out and decor is very good and stylish. The location is great, very central, close to Gunwharf Quays and the historic dockyard so plenty to do. My only slight criticism would be they only offer breakfast but have a lovely bistro which is not open in the day and the evenings because of competition from restaurants in Gunwharf which I understand. Definitely somewhere to consider if you are staying in Portsmouth.

This hotel is perfectly situated. All the historic attractions are within very easy walking distance. If you need to travel any further you've got the choice of trains, buses and taxis right outside the front door. Free secure carpark was a big plus point too. The room was very well appointed and very clean and comfortable. All the staff were great and gave some good recommendations for eating out too, if you could find any space after the excellent full English breakfast served in the mornings. Its not a really big hotel but the rooms are quiet with their own unique character and its well worth paying a bit extra and getting a room with a view of the harbour.

Stayed at the hotel in January 2024 for a weekend. A cosy little hotel in a prime position for the dockyards and shopping, it was a lovely base for us. Breakfast was included and there was lots of choice, a little background music would have been nice. The hotel has a small bar open until midnight however it is a small bar with limited choice of drinks and very limited casual seating. The rooms were very clean, ours was quite small and had no seating, the only downside to our room was how hot it was, it was like a sauna! We had to window open all weekend but this brought with it a lot of noise outside during the night. All in all a lovely weekend and staff were so helpful and accommodating, especially Jeremy who really made us feel welcomed.

Just returned from a few days in Portsmouth, this hotel is in the perfect location for both the shops and the dockyards. The staff were all very friendly, the room was a really good size and the price included breakfast which is rare. Beware, doors to room have two be locked from the outside when you go out. We weren't aware of this and gentleman on reception di not tell us. When mentioned to him he just shrugged and said "lots of hotels are like that". Well, we've never come across one!Also, our toilet was not cleaned properly, again no apology, he just said he would pass our comments on.Apart from that all was good, breakfast was fine and service was very good. However we both found that the pillows were far too hard for us and as all four seemed to be the same we found it difficult to get comfortable. The hotel was in a perfect location for us as we there to spend some time at the Historic Dockyard and to have a few drinks in the afternoon and evening.Parking was easy, straight at the back of the hotel on Clock Road. We left our car there early before check in and the hotel gave us a permit, we returned at 2ish to check in proper. The staff were very pleasant, the room was very clean and we had a great view of the harbour. The bed was comfortable, plenty of room and sockets next to the bed. The room whilst very large and well decorated needed more attention to detail in the cleaning department of the mirrors, glass furniture and soft furnishings which were all a smeared and ledges a bit dusty. The hotel was really clean and tidy, room was very nice and staff really friendly and happy to help. Car park is right behind the hotel and had plenty of space. I was allowed to leave my car there before I was able to check in and the following day whilst I took part in the Great South Run. Breakfast was good with a nice cooked breakfast option too. Really central location, right opposite the train station, 2 minute walk to Gunwharf Quays and 30 seconds to the dockyard. Only slight con to this was even with the window closed I could hear people on the street outside being "merry" and loud whilst waiting for a taxi. Was worried I wouldn't sleep well, but there was no need to worry as noise stopped after 11pm and honestly slept really well. But I would recommend taking ear plugs just in case especially if on a weekend. But would definitely stay again.

Me and my partner had the compact double room for one night and we loved our stay. Room was lovely and clean, bed was comfortable and shower was nice. And a bonus of having a bit of a view of the harbour to the side of our window. Perfect location to spend time in gunwharf quays as only a 2 minute walk to the hart of it so nice to dip in and out and back to hotel when needed and not worrying about taxis.

Hotel is situated in a good location for seeing the historic dockyards.However, bus depot is across the street and that is noisy. However it could be convenient if that is how you are traveling. This area has some crime and vagrants.The decor is very dated and the amenities are few—Overrated on the reviews severely.No hairdryers.Skip the breakfast, it was poor.

Nice welcome, quick check in. Lovely room Compact King. Everywhere exceptionally clean. Ample cereals etc plus a beautiful cooked breakfast. Location is brilliant right on the doorstep for bus and train station, ferries, GunWharf Quays, Shops, Restaraunts, Coffee shops, Cinema & Historic Dock yard. You need a week really to fit everything in and you are right by the waters edge. Just fabulous and even if the weather is raining it doesn't dampen the spirit as there is so much to see indoors too or just return to this little gem of a hotel for a cuppa and a relax.

My husband and I stayed here for a night after our cruise on the Oceania Marina. The host was most accommodating by storing our luggage and allowing us to check in early. Our room was quite comfortable and provided an excellent view of the harbor. There is no AC but there is a fan in the room that served us well at night. I was worried about the potential noise at night with a bus terminal across the street and a well attended pub just down the street but after 11 pm all was quiet.Breakfast was excellent. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. When you go out of the building to tour you need to turn in your key but that was not a problem. The historic dockyards are a short walk and an amazing venue. To the other side of the hotel is an outlet mall that is huge and has a tall needle like structure that you can visit and it has a glass floor at the top. There is a nearby small grocery store open late too.

The Ship Leopard was a great choice for our one night in Portamouth prior to boarding the ferry to France.It isa renovated historic building located across the street from the Portsmouth Harbour train station with a taxi stand and where the National Express bus stops. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, shopping and dining options at Gunwharf Quay, and The Ship and Castle traditional pub are a short stroll away.Our room had a harbour view, well worth the slightly higher rate. The bath was small but updated. The furnishings were simple, appealing, and comfortable. An elevator meant we didn’t have to manage our luggage up the stairs. Breakfast was cooked to order, with fresh breaks, fruits, and cereals if you prefer.The staff is friendly and helpful, even providing a pot of tea to weary travelers upon arrival.We visited Portsmouth in an unusually cool August, so the absence of AC was not an issue.

Thought I had booked a King Suite or better, but the room turned out to be the Compact King located on the third floor. We wanted the view but got a small rotting window that opens out onto a noisy street from the rowdy drunks that frequent the pubs on The Hard (street name). Room small, dirty worn shower head, worn stained carpets, dirty sheet (brown grease on bottom of duvet) and same brown grease on top of toilet seat lid. The room was "turned down" to a slight fashion but whoever had been in the room had removed the free soap and shower gels?? (why?????). Good job we bought our own. No attention to detail in the bedroom cleanliness and the bed the most uncomfortable we've ever stayed in. The "full English" breakfast was plain, miserly (one piece of bacon, one catering sausage, one egg, and fried bread using old oil and took an age to arrive. The guy that serves the breakfast does his best but explained that the cook had a lot of orders to cope with hence the long wait (there were only 5 tables of couples in the room and the breakfasts were only simple?). To add insult to injury the "manager/owner/whoever" on the front desk didn't even bother to ask us how our stay was when we checked out, just said "thanks" coldly when we handed the key back. It was the same luke-warm reception when we arrived with the same guy???? I can't believe that I've paid over £330 for 2 nights stay in what I thought was a nice qualitative boutique hotel having seen your website, when in fact this is a cheap-rate B&B (bed and bugger off) who have no finesse or idea of great customer service. Never again.

The hotel is in a perfect location being opposite the railway station and within a short distance from the gun wharf and in the opposite direction the Naval historical dockyard. Our room had a great view of the harbour. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. The room was very clean and well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. Also the biscuits in the room were a delightful surprise and appreciated. The cooked Breakfast was very tasty with good quality ingredients and a good selection of cereals etcOverall a very comfortable stay and we will certainly return to this hotel when we are next in Portsmouth

The room was large and comfortable, had nice views over the harbour. Everything was clean and well presented. There’s someone at reception 24 hours and they have their own car park. Location is great. It’s the small things that were disappointing. The lights were of the cool variety, making the room unpleasant at night. There’s no air con.There’s no bar fridge. The bathroom is cold. The breakfast is ok, but the sausage is of the Sainsbury’s value variety, disgusting actually, more salt than meat. coffee is filtered, no cappuccino. Someone just needs to pay a little attention.

My wife and I spent two lovely days staying at the Ship Leopard at Portsmouth . We were down for our grandsons family open day on his ship Iron Duke . The hotel is clean and tastefully decorated throughout . The bed is very comfortable and the shower very good . The towels were changed every day which was very good. The breakfast was lovely and nothing was too much trouble . The staff are very nice and gave great advice for things to do . We are planning to go down again for a weekend break and will definitely stay at the Ship Leopard and can recommend it to others . Stayed three nights to enable my friend and I to see the Historic Dockyard, D-Day Story Museum and take a day trip out to Dorset to see the Tank Museum and Lawrence of Arabia's country cottage. This was oursecond visit to the Ship Leopard & they didn'tlet us down. The location is perfect- about a 5 min walk from the do kyard & 10 mins from Gun Wharf shopping centre. The rooms are well laid out with everything you need - slept really well. The only complaint is that the full English breakfastis huge but delicious- so not real a complaintat all. Thanks to all the staff for very pleasant ,comfy & welcoming stay. Worth every penny!

We did find it hard to find as we came in from the opposite direction to the info and very small signage on the hotel. However, once there we found it very clean and comfortable with friendly staff and a lovely breakfast. The location is great, opposite the bus and train station and Gunwharf Keys is only a short walk away. The only real con was that the bed is up a step. This is a real hazard in the dark when going to the bathroom. My husband did forget it and went down heavily jarring his already bad shoulder.

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst we went to Goodwood festival of speed.What a lovely find staff polite and friendly, we booked a compact king and the room was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The furniture was a bit bashed and could do with a bit of tlc but the room and ensuite were both clean, there was tea and coffee and biscuits in the room, we had a side view and could see the ship. The bed was comfortable and the pillows not to thick. The only down side is the window blind, a blackout blind would be better as I did wake up at 5.30am with the light. Breakfast was very good, plenty and hot. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The Ship Leopard was a comfortable and clean hotel. Right on the doorstep from the Gosport Ferry, Trains, Buses and Taxi's. Gunwharf Quay is a 5 minute walk away . The room we had, had a lovely view of HMS Warrior and over to Gosport. The staff was friendly and served up a lovely breakfast.

Our room although small was very comfortableLocation was perfect too as we had an early departure from The Hard the following morningAlthough we didn't have time for a full cooked breakfast we were still offered a continental breakfast prior to leaving on our departure date, thus not leaving hungry which was much appreciated. Stayed in this hotel as we were visiting Portsmouth to see HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. This hotel is literally steps to the dockyard gate and train station.Only criticism is that the room was at the front of the hotel and it was very loud on the street until early hours.Couldn’t close the windows as there was no air conditioning so had to endure the noise. Otherwise the food was good as well.

My wife suggested we visit Portsmouth to see around The Mary Rose exhibition.Needing a convenient hotel nearby The Ship Leopard fitted the bill.The hotel was clean and tidy and our Superior Suite has a king size bed andharbour views. Whilst we appreciated the tea and coffee facilities I hadexpected hair shampoo and shower gel to be supplied as well as the mini bars of soap. Bathroom was small but adequate, thank you.

First of all I just want to start by saying the Room was incredible!, so inviting, spacious and spotless. We enjoyed the bath it was lovely and couldn't fault the amenities provided at all.The staff were all super friendly and genuine taking an interest in how we were finding the surrounding area and activities we were doing. We felt welcomed and appreciated had a good chat with John in the evening who even suggested a few things for us to do on our next visit. Upon checking in we discovered the manager had arranged a suprise in our room as it was my Fiancé's birthday trip which made the stay extra special.The food was very very tasty and just the right amount. The mushrooms in the morning breakfast was cooked to perfection.Recommend 100% and am looking forward to booking another stay.

The hotel is ideally situated close to the Gunwharf Quays, Naval museums, station and ferries. It’s a small hotel in an old building so rooms are compact but comfortable. The Staff made you feel very welcome and were personable rather than the corporate standard you often get at large chains. We would certainly stay again.

The Ship Leopard is a very nice, comfortable and friendly small hotel right next to the Historic Dockyard. The room we had overlooked HMS Warrior and the bed was very comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep. Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room and the bathroom was very modern and clean. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at The Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel for two nights. It was absolutely wonderful. We had a King Suite which was just beautiful...but we also caught a glimpse of room 15...presumably a Superior King Suite. That's where we want to stay next time...there WILL be a next time. From parking in Wickham Street car park (£5 a night with 'pass' from hotel) to checking in, to breakfast, to everything...it was spot on. Each room is clearly unique. Internally, the hotel is very quiet. Apart from the odd squeaky floor board from above (to be expected in a Georgian house), the first night was so quiet we expected to be two of a few guests for breakfast on Saturday...so we were quite shocked when it became apparent at breakfast just how many people were staying... we were right by the lift/stairs but no internal noise. Bit noisy outside overnight BUT we had windows open and it is a city/popular area! Staff were SO lovely and obliging. Special mention of Yasmin who was just FAB. Saturday morning at breakfast, she was run off her feet but so professional, calm and friendly...and always smiling. (More staff needed on busy weekend mornings???!!!!) Breakfast was delicious - freshly cooked to order. Set us up for the day. Great location...30 seconds one way to Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower and 30 seconds the other way for the Historic Dockyard.Highly recommend and intend to return...Thank you to ALL those who made our stay so WONDERFUL.Helen and Tony xx

Staff welcoming, security features - key needed to operate lift and front door locked at night - very welcome in this part of town. Single room is more stylish than functioning with broken blind and shower needing attention (of which the receptionist took note) - however surely housekeeping staff will have been aware of those items?You don't get much for your money at this location - noting the very late check-in available and 24-hour presence, I think the price is in keeping with the competition.Don't stay here if listed building windows and nearness to lots of traffic and people noise is a problem - go for the much more expensive and bland "Express" hotel up the road.

This is a really nice place to stay.It has an elevator which us unusual for a small hotel in England.The location is wonderful near the train station, the bus station, the shopping center and the historic dockyard.

The rooms in the Ship Leopard Boutique Hotel are very comfortable. We had a room on the 3rd floor that looked out onto the pier. The street was quite noisy at times during the night but we enjoyed the busy atmosphere and slept well despite the noise. Rooms were very clean and serviced daily. Breakfast included a small selection of continental and cooked foods. Sometimes the breakfast room seemed disorganised. Tables not set.The only thing that annoyed us was that our booking through Expedia included free parking and it was not free at all. The car was parked in a nearby Carpark we were charged 5 pounds daily. The hotel is well situated to access areas of interest.

The Ship's Leopard hotel is in a fantastic position being a 'stone throw' away from the entrance to the Royal Navy Dockyard and only a few minutes walk to Gunwharf with all it's bar's restaurants, shops and the Spinnaker tower.As these were all things we wanted to visit it was perfect.Parking is very close and once parked the car stayed put.The staff are very friendly, breakfast was good and the room was clean, fresh and well decorated.The only down side is the lack of air conditioning necessitating an open window and for light sleepers the traffic/bus noise on the busy roadway means a very early wake up call around 5am. Our very good summer has probably emphasized this more than it might otherwise do.

5 mins walk to shops and 15 mins to the festival.Amazing view from the room, spacious, clean and plenty of wardrobe space.Friendly staff that go above and beyond to help with your stay. Would stay again.

Very enjoyable stay at LeopardBoutique hotel which is conveniently located for shopping and local bars.Hotel room compact king was very comfortable and clean and breakfast served in the morning was very good.

My wife and I had just finished a weeks holiday on the Isle of Wight and we wanted to continue the holiday by seeing the sights of Portsmouth.We chose this hotel for two main reasons. Firstly, it is a small hotel with high standards and secondly, its position, being very close to all the major attractions and harbour.We were not disappointed. We were greeted with a welcoming smile even though the weather was atrocious and given complimentary hot drinks to warm us up.The room was large with wonderful views of the port from the spinnaker to the maritime museum.The bed was huge and facilities as described.With the windows open, we could hear the trains and ferries but they disappeared when closed.We stayed for two nights and had no issues at all.Breakfast was simple but ample. Remember that this is a small intimate hotel so quietness and friendliness and that is what we received.Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants comfort and service but not large hotel issues.

Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Everything you need. Spacious single room and bathroom.Obviously so convenient for train/bus/ferry.Have to say the ‘boutique’ furniture/decor a bit ‘tacky’ but just not my taste. Would recommend.

Only downside was the breakfast very pooran maybe a bit overpriced. But staff Jamie jasmine & Rees an the rest of the staff all nice people. Very well positioned holtel .all an all had a pleasant stay.

The hotel combines the old charm with some modern style elements. For us our room has been a bit to much mirrored. The breakfast has been porly regarding the price category. The service people very helpful and lovely.The location is brilliant if you want to visit old Dockyaeds and new harbour including Spinnaker Tower and Gunwarf Quays. Due to the trainstation and streets it's very noisy over night and not a place to relax. So for 1-2 nights of sightseeing perfect but not for vactions

We were staying for our sons graduation although not to far from the university it is a great location for pottering around the Gunwarf with shops and restaurants nearby, hotel room was lovely we had the suit which backed onto a road With the hot weather the room was very hot and with windows open very noisy. A fan was provided again very noisy so didn’t use it. The breakfast was very disappointing as only found out on checking in that no cooked breakfast only continental. This was very basic so seriously needs improving. Would have got 5 * if better breakfast

Found myself in Portsmouth on a boating course. Booked Ship Leopard vis Hotels.com and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Very friendly staff. Room was excellent, spacious, clean etc. Location was also a big plus as short walk to Gunwarf Quayswith loads of shops and restaurants.

We booked this back in a February but because of the bad snow, we decided to have it in July for our anniversary. Room was amazing couldn’t fault it. We are hearing impaired had tv with no subtitles but nothing could be done. Was gutted we didn’t have a cook breakfast wasn’t keen on having boring continental doing it yourself breakfast when you pay for room and someone else doing your breakfast would have been much more better, didn’t find it appealing. Staff were lovely hands on and very nice. Location was superb near shops, taxi, train station and buses.

Great location very near both the Mary Rose Museum and well as the modern Quays Shopping Centre with secure parking about 2 minutes walk away.

I was thrilled when I got off the train from London to see how close this hotel - a 5 minute walk.I enjoyed my brief stay. The room was fine. Compact King it was called at the back of hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The bathroom a good size modernand very clean. I phoned in advance to ask about a restaurant recommendation and was suggested Abarbistro. My brother had just arrived from France on the ferry from Franceand we went for dinner at 9 pm. The food was outstanding and we were grateful to Yasmin for this helpful tip. Breakfast was good and staff helpful and friendly.

The location of the hotel couldnot have been better. It is directly across the street fron the main train/bus terminal, one street away from the naval dockyards & the Mary Rose, just steps away from the Europcar rental office, and only a short walk to the major shopping and restaurant complex.

We had a compact double back room, which was very nice, quiet and plenty big enough.

To all,When we arrived at ship leopard, my partner and I were so happy with the location and distance from the station.From the woman that greeted us as we entered to the house staff who wished us a good morning. The customer service in this hotel was a 5/5.The access and services seemed more than adequate for our short stay there.Breakfast was fantastic and I’m a fussy person.The first time My partner and I went to Portsmouth and we had a fantastic time.The only slight drawback to my stay was we read free toiletries, so forwent packing our toothpaste only to discover that it was not included as a free toiletries when we got to the hotel.That was literally the only draw back.

We had a great stay at The Ship Leopard. Lovely room with a view of the harbor. It is located within walking distance of the shopping mall, restaurants and the gun warf exhibits.We enjoyed our cooked breakfast and the staff was very efficient and friendly. Great place to stay 👍

On the plus side the staff were very amiable and helpful and the room was very comfortable and clean. The location was perfect.On the minus side the windows were filthy and desperately in need of cleaning. The curtains did not draw properly and I had to use a peg to hold them closed to keep out the light from the constant stream of buses. The hotel is in need of air-conditioning as I am sure you already know. In the bathroom there was no where to put toiletries and no where to plug in my electric toothbrush so that it could charge. No the two pin socket at the side of the mirror does not work because it is too high up.Despite these niggles I have given it 4 stars.

We picked this hotel in Portsmouth off the internet.We thought we would like it, but the hotel exceeded our best hopes. The staff is caring and gives great service. The hotel is ideally located, especially if you want to visit HMS Victory and the naval yard - only a few steps away. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. What else could one want?

Fantastic location, we didn't have a car, got off the train at Portsmouth Habour and hotel was 2 min walk. Also, 2 mins from Portsmouth Historic Docklands. The room was spacious but noisy from traffic until midnight and then at 5 in the morning. Good choice of breakfast but had to ask for everything: cutlery, glasses and to wipe the table. Wouldn't say it was a top boutique hotel but a pleasant one. Would book again only because of location

We needed a nights stay in Southampton all hotels were full, decided to stay at this hotel last minute as we had never visited Portsmouth. So glad we did as had a lovely time, hotel was really convenient to retail outlet and harbour front bars and restaurants.Room was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. Left after a brilliantly cooked breakfast and will definitely return again as son has two years left at Southampton University and Portsmouth was only 30 minutes away in rush hour.

This delightful hotel I ideally located a few minutes walk from the railway station and the historic dockyard complex and only a short walk from the gun wharf retail and restaurant and bar precinct. Stunning views out over the water from a fairly spacious and comfortable and sun drenched room with a small but perfectly adequate ensuite bathroom.Very pleasant and helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

We have stayed at The Ship Leopard a few times now after visiting our son in the Royal Navy.We have stayed in a variety of rooms and always found the accommodation excellent and the members of staff very helpful.The breakfast (bacon & Lincolnshire Sausage) is exceptional and tasty.The overall position of the hotel facing The Hard is brilliant and central for everything.We look forward to our return trips and shall be coming back in the near future.

We stayed here after being on the Santander Ferry, and the room was bliss, we had a view of the ship from our window.The bed was so comfortable and the room very welcoming.Staff friendly and helpful, breakfast very nice. Really wish we could have stayed longer. Only complaint was the multi story car park was closed when we got off the ferry.

We had a really enjoyable stay, the hotel is a welcome change from the anonymous chain with rooms full of character and friendly staff who seem genuinely pleased to see you!!It is perfectly located for the old shipyards and Gunwharf Quay and 10 minute stroll to the Guildhall and with access to discounted parking in a nearby multi-storey, it is ideal for a short break to Portsmouth.

Hello,Very enjoyable stay in Portsmouth.The hotel was good. The staff excellent, helpful and polite. The room was clean and well presented. HOWEVER as with most hotels that boast that little more..attention to detail gets lost with time and lets them down.I don't think the shower has been serviced since it opened. The overhead shower head was blocked with lime scale and a hot dribble was the most that could be achieved.The reviews and website boast a fabulous breakfast.?? Good on the Saturday with good variety of choices....but Sundays always seem to be a let down. Saturdays choice of pastries seemed to have disappeared with "oh sorry we ran out yesterday" a familiar line, and the Full English was far less than fabulous with no mustard, because they ran out, and plastic sauce sachets on the side is what I would expect from the Little Chef....not a fabulous rated boutique hotel.Lastly, many people today either are intolerant or simply choose not to have caffeine, which in my case rendered the providing of tea and coffee making facilities pointless. I did look for a member of housekeeping to ask but there seemed to be none.As I said...lack of attention to detail lets one down....especially when so highly rated by oneself...oh well.!!!

Weloved everything about the hotel. It is ideally situated for taking advantage of all the sites and benefits of Portsmouth. In fact it seems to be near everything ie the sea, the railway station, the historic shipyard, the bus station, the exceptional restaurants, and also the shopping mall. It ticked all the boxes for us in that regard.The hotel itself was very clean and ultra comfortable. It also has a lift and the view from our bedroom window was lovely. You an also take a ferry from just across the road to the Isle of Wight or even France. The staff were nice and friendly and provided an excellent. We woul highly recommend it and plan to go there again at the first opportunity

We stayed one night for our 28th wedding anniversary- I had requested a room with a bath in addition to a shower and we were delighted with a first floor room with great views and a fabulous bathroom. The breakfast was faultless and the hotel and parking an easy walk to the historic dockyards the next morning. I would definitely recommend,

Stayed for 3 nights December 9th to 12th, to see family living in Gosport and to see a concert at Portsmouth Guildhall.Excellent location for many local attractions, for Gosport and Isle of Wight ferry’s plus national rail, and shopping/restaurants etc., at Gunwharf Quays.Hotel room was very good, breakfast also VG, all staff extremely helpful and friendly.No downside to my visit at all.

Hotel was beautiful and well maintained. The staff we encountered were very pleasant and kind. Location perfect and in walking distance to everything we needed with lovely views. Issue with parking as cost us over £12 a day and there was a strong smell of food when you walked into reception which was due to the cooking oil from the kitchen that needs changing. However would definitely stay here again.

One of the best hotels I ever stayed and I had quite a number. The room spacious and comfortable, mattress felt like home (I have a bad back and hotels' bed could be very punishing). staff friendly and helpful and even coffee was great! Strongly recommend to anyone.

Beautiful heritage building with gorgeously decorated rooms. A mistake saw us upgraded to the suite for the first night, a nice treat with lots of space for 2 adults and a child. Awesome views over the harbor and right next to the historic dockyards makes it a perfect place to stay. With only 2 nights in Portsmouth, the historic dockyards was the main purpose of our visit. Choice of breakfast items were great and breakfast freshly prepared. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great stay, Bulger family, NSW Australia.
